    AVS (Address Verification System) is a system that attempts to match the billing address that when a customer enters in the Billing Address fields during checkout. When the credit card entered is authorized, AVS checks to see if the cardholder’s address entered during checkout matches the address information on file with the issuing bank.

    AVS Rules:

    AVS Rules are based on the codes returned by the Address Verification System (AVS). The codes used by AVS Rules include:

    • Address OK, Zip/Postal Code wrong 
    • Address wrong, Zip/Postal code OK 
    • Address and Zip/Postal code wrong 
    • System is not available 
    • Verification is not on card
